Fantasy Premier League: Who is Hot and who is Not!!! Review Here

by Paul Caffrey on August 23, 2011

Is Ward in your Fantasy Football Plans?

Since the season started back a couple of weeks ago we have seen some fresh new faces in the league that have so far impressed, we have seen the old reliables that put it in each week and we have seen the superstars that have yet to make a mark. With only 1 game left in the current game week and we are starting to think about which players to put in the your team to make it stronger come Saturday, here is a a brief account of the HOT/NOT and who to think about bringing in.

Goalkeepers

HOT

Tim Krul (Newcastle) Tim has kept two clean sheets in both games this term and has also received a bonus in the game against Arsenal. Newcastle’s next game is home to Fulham so I would be thinking of maybe bringing Tim into the squad.

NOT

David De Gea (Man U) David had a howler of a game against West Brom letting Shane Long score. He is the Spanish National U19 Keeper and is tipped to be the next Casillas but so far he is not turning heads in England. With Vidic and Rio out of the the next few games a clean sheet against Spurs could be flattering as he was rarely tested.

Think about bringing Given In!!
Shay Given (Aston Villa) Shay has been very impressive in both games so far for Villa this season. He made a split second save from a header form Bobby Zamora on the opening day of the season that you would have put your house on Bobby scoring form 6 yards.

Defenders

Hot

Stephen Ward (Wolves) Stephen scored on the opening day of the season to help Wolves beat Blackburn. He also had a great game against Fulham and kept the clean sheet from a defenders point of view and picked up a solid six points.

Not

Wes Brown (Sunderland) With Wes moving to Sunderland from sitting on the bench at Man U for much of his career you would think he would of had a new burst of life. Nope, it just has not happened for him yet. He has only picked up 3 points from 2 games and Sunderland have Swansea away next and I could see their defence slipping up. I would stay clear.

Think about bringing him in.

Chris Smalling (Man U) I think this will be a player that I will have in my team for the season. He is a smashing player and a steal at 5.5m. We all know Man U do not concede a lot of goals so he will be keeping a good few clean sheets this season which will mean some solid points each week.

My Verdict would be to definitely bring in Chris Smalling and bring in Stephen Ward or keep a close eye on him.

Midfielders

Hot

David Silva (Man City) David has been smashing in pre season and in City’s two games so far in the current season. He has racked up 19 points which included two goals and two bonuses.

Not

Theo Walcott (Arsenal) For a player valued at 9.0m I would rather leave it in the bank. He has only racked up 3 points from 2 games and with Fab gone and Nasri on the way I think Arsenal are going to crumple. We have seen that Theo does get the odd goal but for the money I think you would be better spending money on  other players that would get you points.

Think about bringing him in.

Matt Jarvis (Wolves) Wolves last game against Fulham saw Matt pick up 12 points. This included scoring a goal, getting and assist and a bonus. He has been linking up with Fletcher well and I can see more assists coming between the pair of them.

My verdict would have to be bring in David Silva. I think he will be fighting to lead the points at the end of the season not only in the midfielder category but in the game overall.

Strikers

Hot

Darren Bent (Aston Villa) There is a lot of talk about Aguero and Torres but I have brought neither in. I am sticking with Bent. He will score and bring you points. He scored last week and put the ball in the back of the net against Fulham on the opening day of the season but was ruled offside. He is a smashing player and again could be a player that I will not take out of my team.

Not

Fernando Torres (Chelsea) What can I say. We have been told that he is doing brilliantly in training, have we seen it yet? He scored in the a pre season game against Aston Villa that to be honest a toddler with half a foot couldn’t have missed. I would not spend 11.0m on a player that has not scored or looking like scoring.

Think about bringing him in.

Shane Long (West Brom) Shane has a 100% record in scoring terms with putting one past both Man U and Chelsea, Not an easy thing to do by anybodys standards. I think he is a steal at 6.0m and on his performance this year so far and he looks egger in the game and will not give up or put his head down when times are tuff.

My Verdict would be to bring in Darren Bent. Agbonlahor and Heskey look both to be injured and Villa’s sole strikeforce will now lay in the hands of Bent and we all know he can deliver.

Smalling is a good buy. utd have a good defense
It will take de gea a few games to get his confidence. Don’t no why everyone jumped on the Torres aguero bandwagon so soon. alot of people dropped serious points.

How is it possible for Smalling to consisently get clean sheets when De Gea wont? I have been told they actually play in the same team…

Don’t pick De Gea as the clean sheet was maybe a fluke and he wasn’t tested, but pick Smalling because he should consistently get clean sheets and points all season. Major contradiction.

I had silva for week 1 but dropped him for week 2 and now I want him back for the rest of the season. Rooney and Chicharito as forwards. The only one I have at the moment is Rooney but bringing chicharito will take me some time since I wanted to give Baines(everton deffender) an opportunity to win my trust but so far he hasnt.

Would you drop DJ Campbell in favor of adding Agbonlahor, Klasnic, Andy Johnson, D. Graham, or S. Long?

Also, drop Bardsley in favor of adding Smalling, P. Jones, S. Taylor, or Elmohamady?

ps: This is in the ESPN game.
