With the season set to kick off on Saturday Fantasy Premier League manager will be frantically scouring the league to find those all important players that will kick their season off in style. We have returned with our usual regular feature of previewing each position prior to the gameweek and we kick it off with a look our early tips for goalkeepers.
As usual we will be previewing each position over the coming days so be sure check back as we ramp up our coverage as Saturdays deadline approaches.
Joe Hart (Man City) £7.0 Million Fixture: Southampton (Home)
City kick off their campaign at home to newly promoted Southampton on Sunday and they will be keen to get the defence of their title off to a winning start. The Saint’s do boast the Championship top scorer in their side for the clash at Eithad, but realistically City should be able to cope to with all Adkin’s men have to offer. There is a word of caution however, Hart pulled out of the England squad to face Italy on Wednesday with a back injury, but reports at this stage suggest that he will be ok to play come Sunday.
Petr Cech (Chelsea) £6.5 Million Fixtures: Wigan (Away) Reading (Home)
The Champions of Europe will be hoping to put their Community Shield defeat behind them as they kick off the 2012/13 with two games in 4 days. Chelsea face Wigan at the DW Stadium on Sunday and Reading on Wednesday at Stamford Bridge and as always a double gameweek always tempts fantasy managers with the prospect of good points returns. Wigan of course will be looking to pick up where they left off last season, but as we have learned over previous seasons the Latics are normally slow to light the touch paper. Reading then travel to the Bridge for their second game of the new season and although they have players capable of finding the net you would have to fancy Cech and co to keep a clean sheet.
So there you have our early tips for goalkeepers ahead of the first gameweek of the season, we will be back on Friday with our
full and final tips so be sure to check back with us then.

Best two goalkeepers for £11m (or less)? Ideally whoever I pick will stay there for the long term, I don't like using my transfers up on goalkeepers if I can help it!
The names that crop up are Vorm, Krul, Al-Habsi, Given, Cech (but I already have Torres and Hazard currently) among others…any thoughts?
Hi, here is my current team
GK; Schwarzer, Ruddy
Def; Ivanovic, Hangeland, Zabaleta, Barnett, McCartney
Mid: Yaya toure, Gareth bale, Mata, Noble, Britton
Strikers; Torres, Tevez, Pogrebynak
any suggestion for changes to make a better squad? Captain choices?
Federici of Reading also worth to consider due to the double. His performance in Championship last season was excellent then points may come from savings. Any idea?
help us out with this team if ya can guys..
Szczesny (Jaaskelainen)
Rafael, A. Cole, Clichy, (Fabio, McCartney)
Yaya Toure, Hazard, Park (QPR), Allen, (Noble)
Torres (c), Aguero, Graham
2 mil in bank.
Questioning:
1) Will Rafael get the spot or is Ferdinand a safer bet?
2) Clichy didn't start against chelsea, is that a worrying sign?
3) Do I need to spend the 2 mil to boost my mid? and if so, who to?
Thanks guys, been reading all the comments over the last few weeks but I'd love some feedback.. Cheers
if u dont want to take a risk just pick evra instead of rafael. i think the best choice for 6mil city defender is zabaleta coz richard is injured right now while clichy will fight with kolarov 4 left back. also park or allen out, sinclair in. im sure he will score lots points especially playin at liberty std. your striker is good. peace
……./// i just give my opinion
cheers mate,
sound advice.
hi,
what would u suggest.. dyer + defoe or miyaichi+borini?
miyachi borini…cant see defoe gettin much game time to be fair
Defoe is Spurs only striker!!! He should get plenty of game time!
choose cech coz he play two games for the game week 1.
