Fantasy Premier League: Gameweek 26 Captain Tips

by Phil McGrath on February 20, 2015

The armband decision looks to be a tricky one this weekend, with a number of players looking like they could go all out and bring home some serious points over the weekend. The big concern at the moment is just how Manchester City will line up against Newcastle.

Sergio Aguero looks to have been given the all clear having been a doubt leading up the weekend, but with Yaya Toure and Wilfried Bony also in contention to come into the side, it does cast some doubt over whether or not Aguero will be risked. With that said, the Argentine striker doesn’t come into our thinking for the captaincy, despite his brace last time out, so we won’t worry too much.

In terms of decisions, we had a tough time compiling our top three contenders for the armband, but we have managed it nonetheless.

Chelsea look to have the easiest game this weekend, well on paper at least and despite the return of Diego Costa to the Chelsea set up we are looking to Eden Hazard for the armband in this one. The Belgian international has been hit and miss in recent weeks and they way we see it, he owes us one. Costa’s return is sure to have an impact on Hazard’s potential and the hope is that with the Spanish international back in the side, we will see Hazard produce the types of returns we had become accustomed to at the Bridge in recent seasons.

Harry Kane is once again very much in the running for the armband this weekend, despite a tough game at the Lane against West Ham. Kane has been on fire over the last couple of weeks and we are hoping that he can carry that form into the London derby this weekend. There has been plenty of speculation over the future of Big Sam this week, after the Hammers cup exit and certainly given the fact that West Ham have only managed one clean sheet on the road this season, it seems highly unlikely that Sam’s side will get a result to take the pressure off the manager.

The final contender this week was a tough one, we were torn between a couple of players, but having produced some good returns since his return to the Arsenal set up Mesut Ozil gets the final place in our shortlist for the weekend ahead. The German international has registered two goals and three assists in his last three games for Arsene Wengers men and based on that type of form you would have to fancy him to continue that run at Selhurst Park this weekend.
