Fantasy Football Focus: It’s good to see double!

Fantasy Focus 36

It’s a double bubble week for some and if you’re playing catch up its time to go all in.  Here is a roundup some of teams and players to keep in mind.

City V United

Roll up for this seasons main event, I support neither of these teams but do live in Salford and work in Manchester so feel well placed to confirm town is buzzing right now about this.  It’s the biggest derby game of recent time and quite possibly ever.  I know form counts for little but here goes. City are unbeaten at home all season and only Sunderland have walked away with a point so far.  United away from home last time out had a surprise shock defeat by Wigan and will looking to bounce back in style.  They did concede 4 to Everton though in a great 4-4 game last Sunday.  That apart the only other loss on the road came at Newcastle.  It’s anyone’s guess how this one will go but I feel the big players will step up and be counted.  Rooney always loves a goal against the noisy neighbours and Tevez will be gunning for the former employees and to lay some ghosts to rest with his own fans.  A winning goal here and all the turmoil of this season would be forgotten in an instant.

Focus Player watch, last 3 GW points

City – Aguero 37 (19,12,6) , Tevez 31 (7,19,5)

United – Rooney 28 (2,13,13) Nani 21 (1,5,15)

Notable Teams with double fixtures

I thought I would try something different this with focus this week and instead of 3 fixtures I would choose some teams that likely to get you more bang for your buck.

Newcastle : Chelsea (A) & Wigan (A)

It will never last we were saying when the Geordies marched up the table at the beginning of the season with the man Ba banging in the goals.  Since then his mate Cisse has come on board as well and is in red hot form scoring for fun.  This game week is the toughest test yet though in the hunt for the last Champions League spot?   With both fixtures’ affecting positions at the top and bottom it’s likely to make or break this season for them.  Chelsea will be high confidence after reaching the Champions league final and looking to carry form on for the next month.  Wigan our no mugs either and would delight in taking another top 4 scalp to add to the collection, this would also see them distance themselves further in the battle of the drop.   The run in though is not good for Pardew’s side with tough ties against Everton and City to follow.  The form from last 10 played finds them with 6 wins and 5 on the bounce which has to be commended. The others played over this time have either been drawn or lost.  They have scored 17 goals with Cisse getting the majority so if you don’t have him now is the time to jump on board.  Most teams will have their 3 players already but one to watch has to be Cabaye who has been scoring heavily recently.

Player watch, last 3 GW points –

Cisse 33 (13,9,11) Cabaye 34 (11,6,16)

Chelsea: QPR (H) Newcastle (H)

Chelsea hey and where to start, fire a so called underperforming AVB and then get 2 finals in the bag to played within the next month.  Will the league form dip though after Tuesday’s tough clash where each player to a man gave it their all to reach the Champions League final against what’s regarded as the best team in modern football?  Add to this a FA cup final against Liverpool and who could blame them for wanting to take it easy.  The Last 10 game sees them with 4 wins and 3 drawn or lost.  Over this period they have scored 12 goals which is not great for a team with 70 million’s pounds of fire power up front.   With Torres getting that winning goal in the Camp Nou will he carry it on in the league and prove the doubters wrong?  Both of these games are at home though which has to be considered when setting out your teams this week.

Player watch, last 3 GW points-

Mata 12 (10,1,1) , Torres 8 (4,4,2)

Everton : Fulham (H) & Stoke (A)

The Toffee’s as usual seem to kicking on strong to the finish. After last week’s 4 goal thriller at United and the 4 goal thrashing of Sunderland prior to that now is the time to get your Everton players in.  Recent form from them Last 10 games is 5 wins, 3 draws and 2 losses.  They have scored 18 goals in this time with 8 in the last 2 played.  After this game week they play relegated Wolves and finish the season against Newcastle.  Fulham away from home are poor and Stoke have nothing left to play for so its all to lose for Moyes boys.  With Fellani and Piernaar on form again in the middle can you afford not to follow the Jelavic road to the end!

Player watch, last 3 GW points –

Jelavic 24 (13,0,11) Pienaar 23 (4,12,7)

Fulham: Everton (A) Liverpool (A)

The Cottagers are usually poor away from home but with both games being played on Merseyside will this show in the upcoming fixtures.  Dempsey is on the radar for many teams looking to boost their squads next year and the Pog has found his scoring boots again so will the defy the norm and win one or both?  Everton are a tough cookie on home soil but let’s be honest Liverpool are poor this season at Anfield having only won 5 from 17.  Out of the Last 10 games it’s fairly good with 6 wins, 1 drawn and 3 lost.  The run in for them though is tough but with safety achieved will they just look to rebuild and regroup for next season’s campaign.

Player watch, last 3 GW points-

Dempsey 30 (15,10,5) ,  Duff 15 (7,6,2)

So there you have it yet more information for your consideration as you bid to top the table in your fantasy premier league.

Best of luck to you all

Yes, i reckon so even though I am an Arsenal Supporter. However if you had another striker that only plays one game I would get rid of him.
